About Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS)
Some Toyota models — such as higher-grade Camry, Land Cruiser Prado VX, and certain Lexus vehicles — are equipped with Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), an electronically controlled damping system.
This system continuously adjusts the shock absorber damping force in real time based on road conditions, vehicle speed, and drive mode, providing the ideal balance between comfort and handling.

How to check if your vehicle has AVS:

  1. Refer to your vehicle specification sheet or owner’s manual

    • Look under “Suspension” or “Chassis” for the term “Adaptive Variable Suspension” or “AVS.”

  2. Check interior control buttons

    • Some AVS-equipped vehicles have “Comfort / Normal / Sport” modes on the drive mode selector.

    • However: not all vehicles with drive mode options feature AVS. In many models, these modes only adjust throttle response, transmission logic, or steering feel.

    • Therefore, this method should only be used as an indicator, not as definitive proof.

  3. Inspect the shock absorbers

    • AVS dampers typically have electrical connectors or wiring harnesses attached.

  4. Verify with your VIN through an authorized Toyota dealer

    • Providing your VIN allows confirmation of factory specifications — the most reliable method.

Note: AVS is available only on certain higher-grade models.
Before purchasing or installing suspension components, confirm your vehicle’s AVS compatibility to ensure proper fitment and safety.
